Relay Check Sheet
Do any of you use a sheet form of some type to keep track of the relays you're calling ? Sometimes, I BS too much and lose what bank and or relay I'm calling. I think I may need a sheet to check off what I've done.

Re: Relay Check Sheet
Just a simple lined pad like a legal pad just smaller. Blank paper like the back of a scorecard if no lined paper is available. When I say "Ready" on the first Relay I write down "1". When I say "Cease Fire" for the last time on Relay One's first 10 targets, I place a "check mark" beside the "1". Then when I say "Ready" the first time for Relay 2, I write down a "2" under the "1". This continues until Relay 1 comes back to the line for their second bank of 10 targets, then I write down a "1" again all in a single column. I do not want to use a ready made form because I never know how many relays we will be shooting. If we use the "Flow" method where each Relay stays on the line for their entire 40 targets, then relay 2 comes to the line for their entire 40 targets, I do not need any paper. If I lose track of how many animals a relay has shot during a "Flow" match, I just walk up to the most experienced competitor and glance at their scorecard or ask them how many they lack before the "Ready" command. Hope this helps!

We have developed an app over here for use in these matches and the beta version is going to market soon
It's a collaboration between a lot of sills shooters with nothing better to be doing . I will post a link up here over the next couple of weeks when it finished .

Re: Relay Check Sheet
If I had to call three banks for a total of 15 of each target saying "Cease Fire" three times, I would put a check mark to the right of the relay number every time I said "Cease Fire". Three check marks beside "1" and I would know it is time for Relay 2. When you have Relay 1 through 8 written down four times with three check marks beside each "number" I would know that the Match was over. I had to use a paper method years ago at a public range because people would back up to the Silhouette line, unload their bench gear and rifle right beside a standing Silhouette competitor shooting a relay and not even know a Match was in progress. Needless to say having to explain to this clueless person without normal intelligence that a Match was in progress would get me off track. Glen, It would be wonderful to have enough shooters and have a large enough facility to run 8 Relays for a 60 shot Match. What part of the country do you hold matches?

Re: Relay Check Sheet
Use a bunch of note cards and make a flip book out of them. Read whats on the card ("Relay 1 shooters to the line") then flip it to the back. Read the next card ("Relay 1 for your first bank of 5 animals, Listo!") flip "Fuego"!
Thats what I would do if I kept losing track because of the chit chat. Or if I had 8 relays.

At Ben Avery they hang a sign on plain view for the relay that is shooting. It helps everyone.

Re: Relay Check Sheet
Our IHMSA shooters have a unique set up. At our club they have the third Sunday for matches May through Sept. They have four loud speakers piped in over head on the firing line. An old fashion cassette recorder plays back a robotic sounding string of commands. They have tapes for 2-3-4-5-6, etc. relays. All a guy has to do is push a button when all return from target setting. The set up runs on a 12 volt car battery, no real human has to say a word. This system works well for them.

Bob
I think that's a great idea. I'll see if I can put one of those together. I just made a simple check list for this weekend's regional and it worked fine. The recording is the best idea . Thanks for your suggestions , they will help..except yours Jerry Gee.
