I am New to Silhouette Shooting and I did the same went around the House and sold everything I could to buy a 1712.Just got mine from Champion Choice..
Ordere a Leupold from Chicken George. Looking for the Best Scope rail that Screws to the Receiver.

Using this set-up gives you the flexibility to move the scope back and forth for your correct eye relief and still have very good support of the tube.
The rail slides over the 11mm rail and is secured using the existing four holes in the top of the receiver, it's extremely sturdy.
On my 1712.
