PROBLEM SOLVED WTB .268 dia 6.5mm bullets

Post by wherdthatunhit »

I am looking for some 156 or 160 gr bullets for my 6.5 swede. I have slugged the barrel and tried out some .268's I have on hand and found that the "normal" .264 dia bullets do not perform at all. it is a difference of 3-5 MOA on the paper. please reply if you have some .268's to sell or suggest a trade.

Thanks for looking

Steven V.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!

Cast lead molds in .269 dia, gas checked. Light loads, soft recoil, and accurate.

Got the molds and gas checks from NOE. Great guy to do business with and has a lot of molds on his web site. Cast and pass through a .269 sizer from Magma Star and things are good on the range. I am using a moderate amount of SR4759 for the powder (worked up from 13gr to 17gr) and have not checked the fps yet and maybe I wont ever. I do not see any pressure signs after shooting in my .268 bore and there is a nice rounded dimple firing pin mark with no flattening.

Thanks to all for looking.

wherdthatunhit,
If you just edit the title of the post by adding something to the effect of "PROBLEM SOLVED" you might not get additional help.
We like to keep posts around to answer the same/similar questions that might arise in the future.
It winds up being a good reference tool for us all!

Glad you found an answer to your problem! :ymapplause:
