Let's see if it's true...
I've been told that improved fitness and muscle tone helps ya shoot steadier, so I'm going to figure out if it's true. I can say for sure that years of doing nothing but sit at a desk looking at a computer screen both at work and at home don't help shooting skills at all. That means it's time to try something different. After putting a few more miles on the 12-year-old mountain bike, I decided to get something a little more worthy. I just bought this beauty and have put a couple rides of 10 miles plus on it with a few other rides around the block to tweak it to fit me. Hopefully by the end of summer I'll be in a lot better shape and can tell for sure if it's helping or not.

Beautiful!
Twenty years (and sixty pounds) ago I rode quite a bit, but kids and back problems put a stop to it! Good luck with this - it should really help except I remember a biathlon Olympian talking about cardiovascular training, and commenting that too much of resulted in too strong of a heart beat that caused problems.

Jason,
That is a good looking bike and you will have a lot of fun times with it on the road.
Just make sure not to spend less time practicing or " training" with your rifle just because you are too tired from riding your bike.
Bike looks so pretty you cannot even see the training wheels

Great looking bike! Should be light and fast.
Needs a Steelchickens.com sticker.
Seeing the picture motivates me to get riding again. Lose some weight, better fitness, etc... All good.
Check out http://www.bikenshoot.com. If I get in shape by this fall I might give it a try.

That sounds like it would be seriously fun, especially because it's mostly an informal race that people won't get too serious with. We have summer biathlons up here that are running and shooting, but I've had enough knee issues thanks to motorcross and football back when I was younger that I'm not a big fan of just hammering my knees with running fairly long distances on a regular basis.

My uncle Rodney turned 60 this year and had open heart surgery to replace a bad valve a year and a half ago. He rides about 30-35 miles every day. Not only that, he rode his bike 110 miles in a race last month and went riding again the next day. I tried to tell him he had heart trouble because he works his heart so hard and he'd be better off to sit around relaxing, but I think he still believes all the doctors that said the problem was a genetic defect.
With that said, I hate older, in shape people.

Well, I'm getting to be in better shape and did a total of 61 miles round trip today. It was mostly on a bet with a coworker on who would ride all the way to work and back before the end of summer (official end date was end of September). I don't know if this will help me shoot steadier in the long run, but I can tell you for sure that I can't even stand up steadily right now.
