New to the Party
Hello Shooters,
I just found this community and thought I'd sign up and introduce myself. I recently got interested in shooting metallic silhouette out at Ben Avery Shooting Facility. I am really just getting started, though I have made it out to a few matches in recent months, including sb rifle and hunter's pistol sil. At my first sb matches I managed to knock over about 8 animals. Nothing stellar, but it sure is fun when you hit 'em low and those chickens go flying!
I am also interested in trying my hand at high power rifle sil, although I only have a Mauser 98 style Interarms rifle chambered in 30.06 topped with a 6-18x variable for that game. It sounds like the 6.5's and 7.08's with 24-36x scopes are the hot tickets for that game.
My equipment is currently not all that great, but Tim recently lent me his Anschutz 64 which was an amazingly accurate shooting rifle that allowed me to turn in my all-time best (by far) of 36/60 several weeks ago. I was amazed at what a nice rifle can do, even in the hands of a beginner. Thanks, Tim.
Those of you I've run into at the range and had a chance to shoot with or chat with have been very friendly and easy going. Thanks for that. Maybe I'll see some of you at another match soon. Good shooting, everyone. Also, any tips for newbies are always welcome. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum AZshooter. I hope you have lots of cash burning a hole in your pocket. I also am fairly new at the silhouette game(started last november) and am hooked. I started out with a t-bolt, moved on to a Kimber, and am currently saving for a custom Annie. I think you better stop now before you get bitten by the bug, becuase there is no cure
Glad to have you join the forum.

Thanks to all for the nice welcome. And thanks Jason, for the kind comment.
No shakes, I don't exactly have a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket, but I wish I did. An Anschutz and decent scope will set me back a bit, and it may be awhile before I make that plunge. I have looked at Kimbers and Coopers. But in the end, having fired an Anschutz, I think I would end up there anyway, so I'm saving for one. I guess I've already been bitten by the bug.
I might set a goal and plan to reward myself with a new rifle once I have reached it. You know, say, if/when I can ever shoot 40/60 then I can get a new rifle. Something like that.
Thanks again,
