Jan 2008 - Tacoma's Pistol/Lever Rifle Match - a whopper!

Post by mordecai »

We kicked off our first match of the year with some pretty good turn out considering we've had our fair share of scheduling issues to date which are finally ironed out...

Either way, we had a phenomenal ending that was just a pleasure to watch.

Dave M. took MW in open-sight pistol and I limped in behind him for a 1st place showing.

My rifle settings were the best they've ever been and despite some frozen ram ringers, I pulled out Matchwinner with a 9-10-9-4 (32), surely my best. Shawn Z. and Randy P. came in right behind me.

But it was the AA/A/B class of lever-shooters that brought us the real action. My eldest shoots from time to time and has some good form, but his scores hover around 15-20/60 and 10-12/40. Today, he went into his last bank of animals with a 14 and cleaned the rack - a first for him. He was pretty proud of his accomplishment, as was I. As we gathered the scores together, it quickly became apparent we'd have ourselves a shoot-off for 1st place in AA/A/B. My eldest and Mike S., both having scored 19, took to the line for a bank of five. Mike S. soon took four while my eldest cleaned his second bank, back to back. He was jittering so bad it looked like the barrel was having seizures, but he pulled it out. He was one proud shooter and he earned every shot.
