The Passing of one of our own....

Post by chunter »

I just recieved word this afternoon that one of our fellow silhouette shooters has passed today, Norman Getler.

If you have ever shot silhouette in Utah, Wyoming or the 1997/2004 U.S. Nationals in Raton you will probably remember him. He was the old guy that didn't say much but always had a smile on his face. He would lend people his equipment, ammo, scopes,money...etc just so they could shoot.

His shooting abilities had greatly decreased in the recent years, but he never gave up and always was just happy to be shooting. I remember him hitting 1/40 animals during one of the U.S. National Matches and he still came away from the firing line with a smile.

He has left a legacy in the silhouette community, I along with countless others would have never shot silhouette if it wasn't for his influence and encouragement.

Sorry to hear about Norm. I never actually met him but he started you shooting silhouette and you started me. Uh, oh, that makes you responsible for all the bad jokes I tell Chuck on the long drives to matches. See what you've done.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that Norm passed on 'cause I know that he was a good friend. Hopefully, someday, people will be able to say the same for us.
