What Cool New Toys did Santa Bring?

Post by jneihouse »

Okay, Christmas has come and almost gone...The jolly fat guy has made his rounds and the reaconing of who has been naughty and who has been nice is history. What cool shooting stuff did Santa leave under your tree.

Santa left me an order confirmation # for some new tooling for the Kitty Cave, a Forster Co-Ax press being the centerpiece of said purchase order...No new guns, but Santa knows that's best left to me....

So what did he leave you, boys and girls??

You do realize that your new toy direct from the toy shop will hold still for pictures and you are going to have to post some....you can't keep us all in suspense.

I will be sporting a sharp new shooting vest this next year, definitely one of my all time favorite presents.

But is was a combo b-day, Christmas, New Years, 15th Anniversary, ground hog day, Valentines and 4th of July present. Or at least thats when it appears thw wife might let me getting something else by

A new to me TX200 in walnut already fully tuned with a Beeman one piece fully adjustable mount and a scope which I am still waiting to procure Bushnell 4200 6-24x w/dot.

So now as I told the wife I am ALL SET  well until I make it to AAA in small bore and need to get a custom 1712. Or until I just have to have a nicer PCP open gun or or or a PCP 10m rifle. But I swear I will be done then. I think. Is it next Christmas yet?

I didn't exactly take these pics, but they were sent to me by a Cuban gunsmith from Houston with instructions to post these and see if the owner will claim it and comment on the specs. And while the bulilder didn't say so, I'm pretty sure if the owner doesen't give the builder his props for a job well done the gun will be shipped to me...

Sweet BB... boy that gun smith does a nice job

BB /John, that barrel looks thicker than ours and you said it's 'overall' weight is a pound less then ours with a scope? Think I'd check the scale :-)

Guilty.

Stiller TAC 30 single shot action, Timney/Stiller trigger with cerracoated internals, Stiller scope bases, Stiller trigger guard, Broughton 5C barrel trimmed to 22" and chambered for Lapua 6.5x47, and Nesika Bay stock.

Evelio had a struggle getting it down to weight (story of my life) for Hunter class. God love him, he had to trim and re-chamber the barrel at least once and replace the Pachmeyer recoil pad with shoe crepe, but it should make weight with a Leupold 25x40 scope and Leupold Rifleman rings. There was also a problem with the bolt handle (blame my lingering Remington 504 Karma) that delayed the project two weeks. Evelio and Stiller got the bolt repaired, coated and installed despite the Christmas shipping crush. Every project has challenges, and what really matters is how well the folks involved belly up and take care of them, so Evelio and Stiller are highly recommended.

Evelio and I started gathering parts for this in July or August, I believe, well before my little distraction with the cardiologist. These are not off the shelf components, the Broughton barrel was an unknown quantity (although it's well liked by the benchrest crowd) and Evelio spent a lot of time swapping emails with me. John and Bob were in on it as technical advisers, and believe it or not, despite their scheming, I very deliberately avoided the bling factor, but it seems to have crept in anyway. Perhaps, with the technical committee I had, that was inevitable. This is my first look at the results and I'm stunned. That sucker's beautiful!

Evelio reports it shoots consistent .5 MOA groups out to 200 yards, so it should be far more rifle than I'll ever be able to use, but I'm thrilled with it! Can't wait to to try it out!

You haven't left me alone with her in the Kitty Cave yet...Let's powdercoat those bases, rings, and bolt knob...

Congrats BB, looks like Evelio hit another one out of the park...Even if it is a "Texas rifle" Sorry couldn't resist that one....
