Tikka T3 loads?
Okay, the Stiller fired me and found a driver that knows what they're doing, so I ordered a Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. Anyone familiar with loads for that puppy?

PS: I think the new 'driver' of your 6.5x47 will beat all of us.

Bob I use the same load on my 6.5x55 and 6.5x47, but I get more velocity out of the 6.5x47.

Evelio - any tuning you need to do on this rifle?
Kitty was checking on slower powders that might take up more case volume - is that a good thing, or am I mistaken again?

From a "possible screwup during loading due to absentmindedness" perspective (one I always try to consider) a full or nearly full case is a good thing. Technically, it should also be a good thing from a "consistent burning" perspective. I've found a lot of loads that were crazy accurate with half-full cases, though...

I loaded a few rounds for a friends 6.5X55 for a swiss 68. It had a very long freebore and had to use spitzer bullets since BT would almost fall out of the case. I also load a 260 rem for my Ruger 77 and also use the spitzers. it just like them better than the BT. not sure why the free bore in it is not extreme.
Its a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milk bone underwear.

Kitty has cautioned that bulkier powders are also dirtier, so there is some experimentation in the future after everything gets here. The immediate plan is to fire form using whatever's cluttering the Kitty Cave and then calibrate around 123 grain Matchking's or 120 grain Scenar's. Because I am recoil shy, heavy loads are out and Dr. Kitty is encouraging 108 bullets until I can reprogram myself.

Why not go for the 107 Matchkings for CPT if you're recoil shy? They're really accurate for me (using 260 Rem) and are only $132 per 500 from Powder Valley. Then you can step up to a ~140-grain bullet for rams. It will be a lot easier to reprogram away a flinch if you are only taking 10 heavier recoil shots per match instead of 40.

That's what Kitty has in mind, and it may be where I end up. Straying too far from his advice does lead me into trouble. Of course, following his lead to closely can be an even shorter path to bigger trouble...Jason wrote:Why not go for the 107 Matchkings for CPT if you're recoil shy? What's this "us" business Bob? Y'all have provided some "interesting" advice over the years... Like that business about bridges and privacy - what was that? I'm only surprised there wasn't video on YouTube!
