Needs to buy a stock to fit 1712 FWT action

Post by 767mod »

Hi everyone,

Newbie here. 1st post...have been lusting for the 1712 FWT action at Champions Choice ($1,050.00), plus some $125.00 for the trigger guard and screws. New to the sport, and will mostly be plinking plus light-duty hunting. Not really looking for any fancy ones. Wondering what's out there and how much...don't mind a clean used one neither..

Other option is to save some dough for ammo and get a 1416, yet haven't been able to locate one with a 2-stage trigger. Currently shooting a 1517 MPR.

Happy holidays! :)

While the 1416 (i.e. Match 64 based) rifles are great they just don't compare to the 1712 etc (i.e. Match 54 based) rifles. One is top of the line and the other is not quite. The best is never an unsound choice if you can afford it. With the number of re-stocked 1712s I would expect that someone would have a clean slightly or unused stock for sale. Regards Nigel.

All of the new actions at Champions Choice have the new trigger safety. Old style stocks would have to be modified for the new safety. Hope this helps.

Guys,
Thanks a lot for the info..I might luck out and get a clean drop-in stock:~) I guess I can live with a 1416 since I'm not into target shooting, yet always will lust for a 54 action. Hope someone on the forum will chime in and offer me a nice stock!
