1712 Question

Can someone tell me what the length of pull is on a 1712?

Factory Stock I think is 14.2 but dont take my word on that though. Thats the first result when I looked it up on google.

That's for the wooden Anschutz stock, not the synthetic McMillan stocks Champions Choice as the "FWT" I believe, a designation they currently use for barreled actions.

Well I've seen internet posts ranging from 13-1/2" to 14-1/4" on the net. Anshutz doesn't seem to publish it, at least not what I can find so I was hoping someone who had one would know or be able to measure it.

jbolt, mine with unaltered wood stock is 13.75".

Thanks Mary. I have a 1712 coming and it looks like I will need to shim the stock a little.

J, what vest do you use? Not that there is any problem shimming a stock, but some vests have thicker pads. I think you will like the rifle even if you do have to add some!

Mary, I currently use a light field vest. A proper silhouette vest won't be for a while. I've blown my budget and then some on the 1712....and a new scope....

For what the rifle costs i should come with a big bag of happy! The new scope is a Leupold 6.5-20 EFR fine duplex.

Now Mary, people keep telling me money can't buy happiness but all I can say is I'm willing to give it my best try! I still blame my parents for not being born wealthy. I've tried for years to get adopted by a very wealthy (and very old with no family) person but I come with a wife and kids which seems to be a deal breaker. What gives?

I'm pretty excited about the rifle. I wasn't going to consider a Annie until I made AA (I'm close) but the opportunity presented itself so I took it.

Congrats on being close to AA....and taking the opportunity! You'll be in AAA before you know it. And as for not having wealthy parents, now you sound like my CPA (Current Pelvic Affliation) and his main reget in life of not chosing wealthy parents. Don't give up on the adoption thing, though, I know a couple that legally adpoted a 45+ year old with her pregnant 15 year old daughter....much to the disgust of their own two grown daughters.

Could I trouble you for the dimensions of the stock butt height, width and screw spacing?

Mine is 4.85" height, 1.5" width and 3.1"screw spacing from center to center of holes. Now mine was a bear to get the butt plate off. I used a hair dryer, and when I got the tip loose I got a piece of safety wire between the plate and stock. I slowly worked the wire under the whole plate will applying heat. It finally came off. I would suggest only heating the butt plate. I got in a hurry and heated the wood a little and I have some small places that the finish came off. I made a new pad to fit me from some crape sole material that I got from a shoe repair shop. Cost me $2.00. Good Luck
