Best Rod Guide for CZ 452 American?

Best Rod Guide for CZ 452 American?

I just wanted to ask which cleaning rod guide will actually work with the CZ 452 American in 22lr? There are many companies who make these but I see comments all over the internet about some people complaining that their rod guide does not work properly and that the rod gets scratched/damaged, many people mentioning it gets scratched on the extractor. I thought the extractors were on the bolt on the bolt?

Anyhow any advice people could offer on which rod guide to get (or to avoid) would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Craig

I just use a pull through patch worm on my .22s works fine and no need for a rod or a bore guide. A simple bore snake works well also for a quick cleaning.
Trespassers will be shot.
Survivors will be shot again!

Go to HD or Lowes, in the section where the hardwood dowels are kept. 1/8 (?) hardwood for what, $0.29 ? Pull the bolt out and push a patch through. Hasn't scratched any of my bores for 20 years.

Unfortunately, they don't come with a warranty against breakage. But they are cheap to replace.

Thanks for your responses. I think it is best to not use a good quality cleaning rod and as you mention use a pull through or a wooden dowel rod instead. I have ordered a few different rods and will try these and see how they go. If I was only going to use this as a MS rifle it would be easy to clean but I wanted to use this as a dual purpose, for MS rimfire and for hunting using high velocity copper plated ammunition so I will guess to see how it goes. I spoke to my gun smith and he is not keen about rounding off the ejectors.

Kind Regards,

Craig -

I use a Possum Hollow bore guide. The model for the CZ rimfire rifles is a 92, IIRC. Their website shows that they have distributors in Australia - Hinterland Shooting Supply is one of them.
If you Google "Possum Hollow Products" you'll probably find their website.

A lot of rimfire shooters find that accuracy is actually degraded by too-frequent cleaning, I certainly no longer clean after every outing.

Best wishes,
