Scope vs Iorn sights

After 20 years of NRA HP I have committed to Silhouette shooting, and really enjoying it. One thing I was famous for was swithcing equipment, constantly. I did hurt me score wise, but shot a lot of different guns
As I get more into this, I am wondering if scope to Iron sights is s problem. I really suffered going from arpature (round) sights to a post in HP- some really good shooters have told me it was a season to get dialed in on one from the other. I want to make the most of this, as I am starting to get to the Older side of life- and Cowboyhas several disiplines. With a scope I can shoot only SB, no chance of HP silhouette.

Sl looking for any experiences of you who do or have shot both scpopes and cowboy thur the season. Is it a problem, or are you better to concentrate on one?

I shoot at least one scoped-gun match/week and usually at least one cowboy silhouette match/week. Switching over Doesn't affect me at all except that The more guns I shoot, the more fun I have.

I shoot both Scope and Iron offhand matches whatever the match rules require. Some targets and matches Iron is no negative. Schuetzen rifle nice clear well defined bull’s-eye target scopes are of very little advantage. Difference perhaps 2 or 3 % advantage to the scope. Many matches allow or require Iron and “any” sight. Scope leg I used to use a 20X Lyman STS lately have gone to a simple 5x MVA B 5 and am shooting higher scores with it. I think the main reason for favoring the 5 power is the mental "trigger" to pull when the shot is acceptable. High power scope there is a real tendency to wait for a better sight picture than you need & over hold.

Going back to Small-bore Silhouette after a long layoff while shooting single shots 6.5 x 20 on a Hunter class 1712 was making me hesitant, looking for perfect, with a light rifle. Way around it has been to lay off the irons week or so before the Silhouette match and if I get indecisive at all on the trigger back down the power. If I was really trying to shoot Hunter class Silhouette well would avoid heavy rifles and iron sights completely

You can switch back and forth, best if you make a clear mental adjustment first. Best of all don’t switch.

No Problem going between irons for Lever action and scope for SB. For me lots of problems going from a standard gun to hunter gun (different hold and different trigger). It takes me a month or so to make that change
