Prizes at Whittington --Solution??

After the competitor meeting at Ridgway the question came up as to why there were very few prizes when the nationals are at the Whittington Center. The main reason is that the NRA rents or uses the ranges from the Whittington Center at so much per person per day. There is no club that helps with the running of the match or getting door prizes like there is at Ridgway

A possible solution was brought up by a young lady that may possibly be the answer. I may not have this entirely the way she said it but this will be close. Also we may make adjustments in the idea.

The idea was to have YOUR "local Club" sponsor a prize. This way your club or match would get some advertisement and also get something to a shooter. It could also be donated by an individual or gun shop or distributor. You could think of what your have and not used that would make a great door prize. I am thinking like a brick of ammo, shooting glasses, ear muffs or anything like that. Be creative.

It was also suggested we start with the B and A class shooters. Remember what it was like when you started and got home and said ""LOOK WHAT I WON""

Shooting for 'a man on a stick' or 'a chunk of rock' means something to people just starting out, not so much ot people that have been at it for awhile. NRA dollars also suck. The little club in PeEll WA. run a great match, have great prizes, and have as many people show up as the nationals do. I'm not sure why the NRA doesn't learn. I guess you just can't teach old DC dogs new tricks.

We had brought up, at several competitor meetings, that a simple paper award would be better than an envelope with your name hand written on it. New shooters need something to show their friends and hang on the wall. Several of us sent examples and less expensive awards we used locally, at the time, to Jonathan, while he was enthusiastic about it was shot down by Greg that they were too busy to print awards. Let's see, you have all the names in the computer, you get preprinted fancy awards papers and run it through your printer and hand them out. (We do this now for our Junior 4P shooters and the NRA has the award paper all made out and we print them with the name, date, etc. so the NRA already has the knowledge how to do this and does it in other divisions)

It appears that my note was misunderstood. I am talking about door prizes or prizes for class placement. Not the class trophies or award points from the NRA.

Yes, I did not understand you. The CBC at PeEll give out great prizes for both door and match awards.

If you want the best prizes of any match then come to the Absolute Last Southern Nationals Party and Match in June. We gave out over $50,000 in prizes each year and this is the final year. If a club of less than 35 members can do this, why can't the NRA with mega dollars and contacts get prizes because their fees are ridiculously high for what they give the competitors.

I will get the ball started and commit to the following to be used as awards/prizes for the NRA Smallbore Championships at Raton in July:
10 bricks of Lapua CenterX ammunition
10 bricks of SK Rifle Match ammunition
10 bricks of SK Standard Plus ammunition
10 Lapua T-shirts
10 Lapua Hats

And for the Hi Power Rifle Championships I'll donate:
5 certificates for 2 boxes of Lapua bullets
10 certificates for 1 box of Lapua brass

Ok, I will jump on the band wagon. I will donate at least one Wooster rifle stock flat top certificate. Most likely I will do 2. I have been thinking on doing this when I seen this post. I would bring a stock, but with 7 types of stocks, its better to let the lucky person make the choice.
