CZ 455 American for Small bore silhouette?
Currently I'm shooting a CZ453 varmint which is legal due to the tapered barrel on it. I've wanted a spare rifle, one that I could also loan out to anyone I can convince to give this sport a try. The 455 varmint has a straight barrel so it is out for hunter class so I'm wondering if a 455 American would fit the bill?
Is anyone shooting a 455 American? If so what do you think of it?
Thanks

Some folks say that the varmint barrel does taper. Just slightly, but apparently it can be measured. Others will have more knowledge of it use in hunter class. I have shot a 455 in both classes. I just started so I am not the best for giving advice. However, it shot very well. I now shoot the 455 Training rifle in Hunter and the 452 UL in Standard. I like the extra barrel length and want to shoot iron sights with them. I also like the drop in their stocks more than the American.

BruceH,
My nephew and I shoot the CZ 455 American. The factory barrel has a slight taper. The gun shoots very well. However, I purchased Lilja varmint taper barrels for my nephew and myself.

Re: CZ 455 American for Small bore silhouette?
I shoot my 455 american In both hunter and standard class. I have really like it so far and it shoots well enough for me. I haven't shot an Annie so I cant compare, but if anyone wants to give me there's
. My main attraction was being able to switch out barrels similar to a 10/22. I just joined the game end of last season and honestly wasn't ready to spend the money on a dedicated rifle, I justified it with being able to change barrels to 17 hmr. The biggest complaint I have gotten about the 455 from an inexperienced shooter is that the bolt can be sticky and hard to open/close.
Since then I have tinkered with the rifle. I just can't help leaving something that works fine alone, I once fixed a door that wasn't even broken yet. I have smoothed out the bolt a little, worked on the trigger, and added some weight to the stock.
If you are looking for a spare rifle to loan out I can't see how you could go wrong with a 455. Technically, if the factory varmint barrel is allowed or not a new different factory barrel and stock is only about $250
