Leupold FX-3 25x40mm scope

I just received a Leupold FX-3 25x40mm scope along with the Alumina Threaded 40 mm lens cover and the TC standard Eyepiece cover. To my surprise the Leupold eyepiece on the scope is not threaded. Are all the Leupold FX-3 25x40mm scopes this way or did Leupold screw this one up by not threading the scope's eyepiece? I guess I'm now the proud owner of an Alumina eyepiece lens cover with no scope to put it on.

I think you need to screw off the eye protector that's on there.

I see what you mean but I'm not sure if that rubber piece is there to protect your eye if, for example, the scope was mounted on some high powered rifle or if it's there to protect the eyepiece during shipment. That rubber piece on the end of the eye piece doesn't seem to want to screw off. I'd like to hear from some of you guys or gals that own this scope.
