Outstanding dwl!

I might go out on a limb and tell you that the massive flooding in the mid-west happened due to the Army Corp of Engineers.. These fucktards are the ones that screwed up the coast of Louisiana.

I am tired of bailing out dumbasses that build and rebuild in flood plains!!

The Corp cannot get anything right as they are a prime example of government intervention and now I hear that the Democrats want to nationalize petroleum! What ever happened to capitalism! If you don't want to buy high gas, then ride a fucking bicycle! Quit blaming everyone except the dumbass Congress that caused this to happen. How come we can get gasoline and diesel cheaper in Mexico? Because they do not have all the ignorant taxes! How about going in to Mexico and buying good old American Beef cheaper than in the US?

We may need to start a new thread on all this type of shit!

That would be the "Globalization Sucks" thread, Sarge. Socks Wal-Mart sells here for for $3 cost .19 in China, so go figure.

Climate changes constantly and there is no known precedent for the current trend or polar ice retreat and there is some pretty good science behind global warming and humans as a contributing factor. Just because proponents of the theory can't answer every question does not constitute disproof, only evidence that there's more work to do. It's good to know they aren't shutting out challenges to their theory, because even scientists can be pricks  when a pet theory is challenged.

Just a few points, and a couple of quotes...in no particular order-

Theories are theories, until they are proven as fact or disproven. Some theories are impossible to prove. Some answers are known only by God. Some don't have anything or anyone greater than themselves, and therefore believe that they are qualified to have (and usually dispense) all the answers.

Most liberals don't believe that they are doing is wrong, they just haven't been allowed to do enough of it yet.

If you fling enough shit in all directions, pretty soon you can't take a step without slipping in some of your own handiwork. The "environmentalist" movement is currently at this point.

Try not to confuse motion with progress. Do not assume all change is for the better.

If you're gonna dabble in it, you're bound to get some on ya.

The science isn't all in yet.... and the opinions are far from unanimous, contrary to what you may have heard.

No one I know was around to witness and document the last seven to ten Ice Age/ Temparate cycles, which historically occur every 10-15,000 years. We don't know exactly how fast that change occurs, or what conditions precede it.

The last Ice Age ended about 12,000 years ago. The planet has been warming ever since.

Not much forage grows above the Arctic Circle.

Most large foraging mammals will consume 1.5-2 % of their body weight in food daily.

A few years ago, scientists discovered a frozen preserved mammoth, above the Arctic Circle in the permafrost. It had a full undigested meal in it's stomach, appeared to be in good health, and was found in an upright position almost perfectly preserved . How exactly did all of the conditions in the above sentence come to be?

Humans almost certainly did not cause any of the previous Ice Ages. Likewise, we almost certainly did not end any of them. We almost certainly did not cause the present change. We very certainly will not be the deciding factor in reversing this one. If by some chance we are, it is highly likely that we royally screw up the planet as we know it, given humankind's track record when we think we know what's "best".

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Like it or not, humans ARE part of the environment.

FWIW.
Before my ADD kicked in a few minutes ago, I was gonna get up and go to the fridge (a good invention) and get myself a beer (an even better invention). I think I'll go do that now. Hey, look! Something shiny! :)

Hey shootndig, remember to throw the shiny can in the dirt! I am personally paving my hunting camp property in front of the "man-shack" with aluminum! A much more worthy endeavor than recycling the shit! I won't have to step in mud! Especially this Mississippi Gumbo!

I love the quotes and invite you to come to the Southern Nationals as you could be an immediate candidate for the Golden Patty Bullshit Award!

To add to Shootndig's observations:

Odds are humans will go extinct, one way or another, and the world will go on without us.

Environmentalists are evangalists with a different bible but they're still hoping to scare people into making a donation.

Think it's been covered. If the 90% consensus is wrong, bring data, not simple denial.

And paving your driveway with aluminum cans counts as recycling, sorry...

Bob, Don't forget that there are also extremely high returns on the recycling value after Ducky croaks...
