OK....McCain chose a relatively young woman for his running mate. Good move...or bad move? What do you think?

Interesting choice....Maybe a very obvious move to pull in Hillary's supporters who have not exactly fell in love with Obama...and the voters who are concerned with McCain's age...from her bio she sounds like the real deal...would like to hear from some Alaskans on here who would most likely be much more familiar with her as governor of Alaska.

Definitely a gamble, but I like her better than the other choices McCain had to choose from. I'd probably vote for her over both McCain and Obama, to be honest. Check out this quote from her, speaking about her photo shoot for Vogue magazine.

"At first they had me in a bunch of furs," she said of the photo shoot. "Yeah, I have furs on my wall, but I don't wear furs. I had to show them my bunny boots and my North Face clothing."

So she's hot enough to be in Vogue magazine and she's got furs on her walls, on top of kicking some political ass already.

I'm glad Jason said it cause I wasn't going to in deference to all the ladies that shoot with us (and shoot very well) and I didn't want to appear sexist, but considering McCain's wife Cindy and his VP running mate, I'd vote for the guy just based on his taste in women

Seems like the best choice and I agree with Jason I'd vote for her over any of the others. From the reports the majority of folks in Alaska love her, she is the real deal!!!!

I don't think she's pro-oil at all, as much as she is pro-Alaskan economy. She supported quite a large tax on oil company profits and is cleaning up the government corruption, both oil-related and otherwise. Here's a quote from the article.

Palin's confrontations with the state GOP began when Murkowski named her chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. There, Palin exposed current Alaska Republican Party Chairman Randy Ruedrich, who was also on the commission, for ethical violations.

In 2005, Palin co-filed an ethics complaint against Murkowski's longtime aide and then attorney general, Gregg Renkes, for having a financial interest in a company that stood to gain from an international trade deal he was helping craft.

The article also states that she opposed listing the polar bear as threatened under the Endangered Species Act because it would interfere with an oil pipeline, which would seem to suggest she supports the oil companies. After trying a few searches, I couldn't find where it said she opposed it for that reason, though. I hope, but don't know, that she did it because the polar bears are nowhere close to threatened. I'm sure that it's not surprising since I'm a hunter, but one of my biggest political pet peeves is animal rights groups trying to list species as threatened or endangered to enforce their agendas on the rest of the world. In my search for info on why Palin opposed listing polar bears as threatened, I did find a boatload of info on why they shouldn't have been considered for threatened status at all.

Thanks Jason! If she's pragmatic about oil that's fine with me, I'm just very wary of "owned" politicians. And yes, one of my concerns about Obama is who "owns" him, because political machines like that don't just magically appear - who's behind the curtain?
